The Vehevionian Verb System

Welcome to your SIXTH LESSON IN VEHEVIONIAN

Verbs are action words. They tell you what a noun/pronoun etc. is doing. Verbs are the most important part of speech in Vehevionian because they are the hardest by far to learn!

Let’s first start with the basics though.

Here are some examples of common verbs:

• Prete — To have

• Maeve — To do

• Nisete — To eat

• Seve — To see / to look at

• Aeve — To like / to love

• Kavahe — To be

• Lurehe — To go

Before learning how to conjugate verbs, it’s important to understand the different types of verbs that exist in the language.

The Three Types of Verbs (+ I-Irregulars):

Vehevionian verbs are divided into three distinct categories with an additional group that we will not go into in depth due to its complexity. The groups are:

1. Regular Verbs

2. Different Irregular Verbs

3. Divergent Irregular Verbs

A verb type can be easily identified by looking at a verb’s ending.

Regular Verbs:

These verbs are the most common verbs in Vehevionian. They always end in:

• -eve

• -ete

Examples:

To have — Prete
To do — Maeve
To want — Vuleve
To eat — Nisete
To give — Hamete
To like — Aeve
To cry — Nehbeve

When we begin learning conjugations, regular verbs are going to be the easiest to work with.

Different Irregular Verbs:

The first kind of irregular verb is called a Different Irregular verb. These verbs end in:

• -he

Examples:

To be — Kavahe
To go — Lurehe
To know — Bruehe
To live — Liehe
To play — Fhe
To write — Vahe

These verbs have a conjugation pattern that’s similar to regular verbs, but not exactly. They will be covered in the next lesson.

Divergent Irregular Verbs:

The second type of irregular verb is a Divergent Irregular Verb. These verbs end in:

• -teo

Examples:

To need — Ne’eteo
To move — Meveteo
To sleep — Dormeteo
To create — Geoteo
To rain — Dizhdeteo
To open — Oteteo

These irregulars behave similarly to regular verbs, but have important diferences that will be covered later.

Finally, the I-Irregulars:

These verbs are verbs that do not follow the standard conjugation conventions in Vehevionian. There are quite a few I-Irregulars, each with their own conjugation pattern, so it is important to fully understand them when you come across them.

These verbs will not be covered in depth in these introductory modules, but will be covered to their full extent in the complete Vehevionian Textbook, which will be available in Winter 2026.
